10 Super Foods for your Skin!

10 Super Foods for your Skin

10. Getting your Daily Oats

One great way to set yourself up for the day is a tasty breakfast of oatmeal. Full of vitamins, it breaks down slowly in the body and helps to keep your blood sugar from spiking. In keeping a stable blood sugar level, you can help to reduce the production of hormones that can contribute to wrinkles.

9. Birds know best

Birds love Sunflower seeds and they make a wonderful accompaniment to beer! Packed with vitamin E, they are a great way to help protect your skin from the sun! Apply sunflower seed oil to anything dry, such as lips or skin and help put the moisture back!

8. Pep up your skin

Eating either green or yellow peppers may help to fend away those unwanted wrinkles. Tasty stuffed, or wonderful in salads, pepper are a great addition to any meal! Yellow peppers are also packed with carotenoids, an antioxidant that may help protect skin from the sun.

7. Going Greek

Yoghurt is great for your complexion and you don’t have to spread it on your skin for it to have a beneficial effect!
Full of protein, a helping of yoghurt daily will help keep those lines away! Greek is best, with anything up to double the protein found in other yoghurt products.

6. Getting Fruity

Oranges and lemons say the bells of St. Clement’s – and it is highly likely that anyone living in earshot has beautifully firm skin! Vitamin C is found as a major ingredient in many of those expensive skin creams we so often see advertised in the press – but for just the price of an Orange you can have the same youthful looking skin!
Citrus fruit is rich in vitamin C, keeping your skin from sagging and wrinkles smoothed away! Try peeling back a chilled Jaffa while watching the evening news or juice pink grapefruit for a zesty summer quencher!

5. Dark Delight

Dark and sensual, creamy to the tongue and warm comfort to your soul – I am of course referring to chocolate! Sadly I am more a fan of milk chocolate than the dark variety but beggars can’t be choosers!
Believe it or not, dark chocolate with a cacao content of 60% or more is known to help keep your skin hydrated and protected from the sun!

4. Strawberry Fields Forever

Who doesn’t like strawberries, I like mine swimming in a gleaming pool of syrupy condensed milk! But while munching such sweet summer treats, we may also be helping our skin. Strawberries are rich in Vitamin C which in turn is essential in the body’s production of collagen, a protein responsible for keeping the skin firm! So a few strawberries a day may well keep the wrinkles away!

3. Go nuts for smoother skin

I simply love to eat Walnuts, which apparently is a good thing, as packed with Omega 3 and Vitamin E, I can look forward to all sorts of benefits!
Just a few nuts a day should make my skin smoother, my hair healthier, my bones stronger and my eyes sparkle like stars!

2. Youthful Bites

If you want to keep those youthful good looks, you could do a lot worse than eating tomatoes. Packed with an antioxidant called lycopene, this tasty soft fruit is laced with anti-aging properties that will keep everyone guessing your age.
By the way, your body will absorb all that yummy goodness way better if the fruit has been cooked! So tomatoes tinned in their own juices or squashed into ketchup, will actually prove more effective than those straight from the vine.

1. In the pink

Omega 3 is a fatty acid that, amongst other things, will help to keep your skin nicely moisturised – and there are few better sources than Salmon. Not only a tasty dish, hot cold or smoked, Salmon is also packed with selenium that will help protect your skin from the sun.
